Hemlock Falls Camping

Covid-19 update

After some deep thinking about how HFC could operate this camping season, as of May 3rd, 2020, the fam has decided:

  • Delaying our opening to June 8th, 2020

  • Adding buffer days before and after each booking

  • Implement an updated disinfecting routine

  • Additional social distancing measures

As federal and local guidelines change we will update our reaction accordingly, and if we feel that extra measures need to be put into place (including and not limited to shutting down for the season) we will communicate that message here on our website, via email through our newsletter (sign-up here), on our social media platforms ( instagram  & facebook), and directly to guests with confirmed reservations.

All our standard policies are in place and are stated below this update, but we have added the following precautions for all reservations during the Covid-19 pandemic:

  • We no longer will allow back-to-back bookings (in which one group checks out and another group can check in that same afternoon). Additionally, a 48-hour buffer is in place before and after each booking to ensure proper time for disinfecting and resetting each campsite.

  • We will drive your belongings down to the campsite in our ATV as well as return your items back to your car at check-out, but we no longer will be handling guest’s bags, the guests must load and unload their luggage and supplies.

  • We will continue to provide receptacles and bags for garbage + recycling but guests will need to throw out their garbage at check-out into a provided animal resistant dumpster located in our guest parking area.

  • We will offer two options for linens: You can provide your own sheets + blankets + pillows + towels, etc. or we can provide these for you. We launder sheets + pillowcases + duvet covers + towels between each booking with dye-free sensitive skin detergent. Linens usually are dried in the Catskills Mountain sun :) There is no price reduction should you decide to bring your own linens.

  • Even with 40 acres we ask that social distancing measures be respected by all guests. The maximum number of guests on property is set at 8 across 4 campsites. These campsites are approximately a 5 min or more walk between them.

  • We are a family of four that live full-time on the property, two other local family members live nearby, other than that, we have not allowed anyone else on the property since the start of the Covid-19 pandemic. Our family of four here have been self-isolating since March 12th, and only one member shops every 2.5-weeks.

At this time, all reservations / bookings are processed through Airbnb. Below are our house-rules / policies that are agreed to by guests when they book a campsite at HFC:

  • All guests must be 21+ years old

  • Friendly pups are allowed but you must notify us when you book. There is a fee of $50 per dog, per stay (2 dogs maximum per tent). This fee is charged separately after booking. You must bring a bed for your pup as animals are not permitted on the furniture inside the tent. Dogs must always be leashed when on the property. Guests are required to clean up after their dog (bring baggies for bathroom breaks). Any damage caused by guest's dog will be the responsibility of the booked guest through their Airbnb security deposit.

  • Outside firewood is prohibited. We do this to prevent the spread of tree diseases and invasive insects that could quickly kill our forest. Included in your stay is one fire-starter kit which includes: bundle of kindling + natural fire-starter + 5 pieces of firewood. Additional firewood is available for purchase.

  •  No smoking of any kind inside the tent. If you do smoke, please make sure not to toss butts onto the property. Kindly dispose of them in the outdoor trash once they are safely extinguished.

  • No parties.

  • Any damage, extra cleaning, and/or losses to our tent, deck, bathroom, furniture, appliances, linens, towels, books, games, decorations, accessories, etc. will be the financial responsibility of the booked guest through their Airbnb security deposit.

  • Anytime you are not in the tent, please be sure to zip close the entrance to the tent. We are not responsible for lost or stolen items.

  • No food in the tent. This is important for bear safety. All food items when not being eaten must be stored in the provided bear resistant cooler.

  • Please respect the trails and stay on the paths. This is important for your safety and the safety of the ecosystem we are trying to maintain.

  • The tent resides on 40 acres of woodland property. There is wildlife that roam the land (deer, porcupines, chipmunks, snakes, field mice, owls, hawks, and most importantly BEARS). These animals are native to the area. By following some simple safety guidelines people and the natural inhabitants can coexist relatively seamlessly:

    • Store all food and food garbage inside the provided bear resistant cooler.

    • Always clean up after using the BBQ.

    • If you bring snacks with you while hiking on the property do not leave these items in the forest or stream area, even if they are compostable (e.g. apple cores, banana peels, etc.)
